There's a special five-day summer camp called Flight School for Girls at the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii . It's geared for grades 6-8 with a focus on STEM in the world of aviation. www.PacificAviationMuseum.org When you are in Washington, D.C. , there are two aviation Smithsonian museums to visit: National Air and Space Museum in the city, and the Ste- ven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Dulles Airport. Both have lots of exhibits and big IMAS Theaters to watch movies. At the Udvar-Hazy Center take the eleva- tor to the observation tower and get a 360-degree bird's-eye view of Dulles Airport. www.AirandSpace.si.edu Only the second one of its kind in the U.S., the Aviation Learning Center at the newly opened Lone Star Flight Museum in Houston, Texas , will get visitors excited about flight through a hands-on learning experience. www.LoneStartFlight.org One of the largest aviation museums in the Southeast is in Birmingham, Alabama , and is called the Southern Museum of Flight . The WAI Southern Airways Chapter will host 2017 Girls in Aviation Day event there, so check it out. www.SouthernMuseumofFlight.org Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park in Ohio has lots of sites to visit to learn about the early days of flying including Hawthorn Hill, the family mansion designed by the Wright brothers, Carillon Historical Park, Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Center and the Wright Cycle Company, and the Huffman Prairie Flying Field, where the Wright brothers took their test flights. www.DaytonCVB.com/attractions/ dayton-aviation-park/ Right near the Boeing Company headquarters, The Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington , has over 175 aircraft and spacecraft and tens of thousands of artifacts, millions of rare photographs, and lots of exhibits, and a world-class library. www.MuseumOfFlight.org Discover the world's only flying boat museum in Limerick, Ireland, called the Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum . You'll learn all about the history of women in aviation and space! www.IWASM.org The Ninety-Nines Museum of Women Pilots in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma , occupies the entire second floor of this group's international head- quarters on Will Rogers World Airport. www.MuseumofWomenPilots.org San Diego Air and Space in California takes you through the history of flight starting with hot air balloons to the space age. It features a Kids Aviation Action Hangar play area, plus an American Women of Flight exhibit. www.SanDiegoAirAndSpace.org Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum in Atchison, Kansas , has been carefully restored and was the home of Amelia's grandparents where she spent much of her childhood.
